9/11/2023 0 Comments Hdl cholesterol normal range![]() Sometimes, the HDL benefits can get extended until 90 mg/dL in men. The maximum adult range for HDL cholesterol is around 65 mg/dL for men and 80 mg/dL for women. In most cases, the higher your HDL levels are, the better. Normal HDL cholesterol levels in milligrams per deciliter (mg/dl) as per age and gender are as follows: Higher HDL shows no protective effect when LDL and triglycerides level falls above 100 mg/dL or 150 mg/dL. If the two other blood fats or lipids are not within normal ranges, even a high HDL may not be protective.įor example, high HDL (40 mg/dL or higher) reduces cardiovascular disease only when your LDL and triglycerides are 100 mg/dL or less. However, there needs to be a balance among HDL, LDL, and triglycerides to reduce cardiovascular disease.įor instance, a study states that HDL’s protection depends on the levels of LDL and triglycerides. HDL in the range of 40 to 59 mg/dL is normal, but doctors often recommend an HDL level of 60 mg/dL or higher for optimal benefits. HDL-C, or high-density lipoprotein, is one of the five main lipoproteins and carries one-quarter to one-third of your total LDL back to the liver for removal. HDL and LDL are not created equally and don’t have the same effect on your body. There is high-density lipoprotein (HDL), often known as the “good” type of cholesterol, and low-density lipoprotein or bad cholesterol. However, not all cholesterol is the same. People automatically associate it with heart disease when they hear the word cholesterol. Your liver produces most cholesterol, and some cholesterol comes from the animal-based foods you eat. What is HDL Cholesterol?Ĭholesterol is a waxy, fatty substance naturally present in the body and moves through the bloodstream. HDL is like the natural vacuum for cholesterol since it carries extra LDL cholesterol and triglycerides from your arteries and sends them to the liver for removal.īut while most people focus on driving down bad LDL, you still have to monitor your good HDL cholesterol levels. Making changes to your diet is the first line of defence for anyone looking to boost HDL cholesterol.įollowing a whole foods-focused, healthy fat diet plan like the Mediterranean diet helps to improve overall cholesterol by increasing HDL.Īlthough it’s possible to enhance HDL levels through diet alone, the best results will come from incorporating exercise as well. It also enhances blood flow and improves communication between neurons essentially, lutein helps the brain work smarter, not harder. Lutein provides both antioxidant and anti-inflammatory protection to brain cells. 17 One study found that higher levels of lutein are associated with better academic performance in children, particularly in math and written language. 16 Research has also shown that higher levels of lutein in children are significantly related to intelligence as well as executive processes, which include concentration and focus, self-control, memory, and cognitive flexibility. Recent research investigating lutein’s role in the brain in adults over the age of 50 found that high levels of lutein were associated with better scores in several measures of cognitive function, including memory and executive function, which includes reasoning and judgement, planning, focus, and regulating emotions. This carotenoid is known for its role in eye health, but new research is proving that it’s instrumental in keeping the brain sharp, from birth into our golden years. ![]() The recommended intake of choline is 550 mg/day for men and 425 mg/day for women, however, certain populations require higher intakes, including post-menopausal women, pregnant women, those who frequently drink alcohol, and endurance athletes. 12 13 Low levels of choline have been associated with poor cognitive performance. 11 Research has shown that choline supports mental sharpness in young people as well as in older adults, including improving recall and attention, visual and verbal memory, reaction time, and energy production in the brain. 10 Loss of cholinergic neurons is associated with impaired cognitive function and severe depletion of acetylcholine is a hallmark of Alzheimer’s disease. Often grouped with the family of B vitamins, choline is essential for the healthy functioning and structural integrity of cell membranes, especially for certain brain cells, and is the precursor to acetylcholine, a critical neurotransmitter involved in memory and learning. 9 This can be obtained from a quality fish oil supplement. 8 It also appears that PS works most effectively when there are optimal levels of the omega-3 fat docosahexaenoic acid (DHA) in the brain. Start with 200-300 mg a day for a month or two to fully saturate cell membranes, then reduce dose to 100-200 mg daily for maintenance. There were specific improvements in classroom behavior, social skills, and auditory memory, or the ability to process and recall orally presented information. One double-blind placebo-controlled study found that 200 mg of PS daily significantly reduced ADHD symptoms after only two months in children aged 4-14. 5 6Ĭhildren struggling with attention-deficit/hyperactivity disorder (ADHD) can benefit from PS as well. 4 Research has also found that PS supplementation can reduce stress and improve mood. 1 2 3 Supplementation with PS has been shown to cross the blood-brain barrier and support cognitive function, including short- and long-term memory, learning and recall, focus and concentration, problem solving, and language skills. PS is concentrated in the brain where it maintains the structural integrity and plasticity of neurons and enhances communication between neurons. You are only as healthy as your cell membranes, so it is critical that they are in good health. PS is classified as a phospholipid, a class of fats that are critical components of all cell membranes, maintaining strength, structure, and fluidity, and influencing the overall health of the cell. While not an exhaustive list, the following nootropics are well-researched and are proven to have cognitive benefits. They can work by providing essential nutrients to the brain supporting the normal production of neurotransmitters improving energy production in the brain neutralizing free radicals and reducing inflammation stimulating the formation of neurons and new synapses improving communication between neurons increasing resiliency to stress and supporting neuroplasticity, or the brain’s ability to change. One of the exciting things about nootropics is that each one is unique and has its own mechanisms of action. Nootropics run the gamut from supporting attention and focus, and memory and learning, to improving cognitive efficiency and brain plasticity. 9/11/2023 0 Comments Build defend your castle games![]() To garrison your legions, tap the Fortress building, and next, tap the “Garrison” button. The EP, Somewhere Over My Head, was released in 2016, and it became the powerful statement Chance needed on his reemergence into the music scene - as a singer-songwriter, an instrumentalist, and, most importantly, an unabashedly confused, lost, and growing teenager. Ultimately, Chance cancelled production of the premature album, instead announcing an EP to be released two years later. It seems that while Chance plunged into writing music with devotion, hoping to redefine his image without losing traction, his musical style was still in soft-focus. The two tracks are jarring in conjunction, albeit compelling on their own. In 2014, Chance signaled his return with the announcement of his sophomore album, Planet X, previewed by the release of several new tracks: “Thrilla in Manila” is a startling piece, playing with erratic, hurrying beats, straddling the alternative and funk on the other hand, “Temptation” is a meandering ballad, bearing passing resemblance to “Speechless” by Lady Gaga. After a two-year hiatus, Chance began anew. Not with the rush and abandon of his youth, pulled alongside by an industry giant, but with a gradual search of identity, a cascade of raw lyricism on romance, loneliness, change. But Chance was first and foremost a musician, be it on live television or in his suburban Oklahoma home, and he persisted. Where to go from here? It would be easy to call it quits, reminisce his time in the limelight and move on. His manager followed suit.įrom living in fame to having his hands tied behind his back, and, in his own words during an interview with Fuse, with “a chip on shoulder,” Chance was at a standoff. While working on his second record, Chance was dropped from his label. Thrust into studios, interviews, live sessions, Chance was poised to become the next teen pop sensation - until the release of his first full-length album, Hold on ‘Til the Night, fell south of commercial expectations. Dressed in a green-and-white polo shirt, with an unaffected demeanor, a charming streak, and indisputable vocal prowess, Chance reenacted the performance on the talk show and inspired Ellen to launch a record label, eleveneleven, just to sign him on as an artist. It later landed him a spot on The Ellen DeGeneres Show. Greyson Chance’s initial rise to stardom is one we are all familiar with: at thirteen, he performed a heart-rending cover of Lady Gaga’s “Paparazzi” at his school’s talent show, and a video of the performance became viral on YouTube. This was four years after Chance was dropped from his record label. This was Swedish American Hall, San Francisco, May of 2016. A horizontal line runs through both his first and last names, slicing the words in half, denoting the before and the after, the past and the present, like an avatar of the divided self. It was like a declaration: against a glaring white background on a mid-sized stage, before a crowd of no more than a couple hundred, attended by the faded purple hue of the venue and the faint smell of booze… The name Greyson Chance in thick, black print sits squarely in the middle of the projection wall. 9/10/2023 0 Comments Steward health care stockHeadquartered in Boston, Massachusetts, Steward operates 36 community hospitals nationwide that employ approximately 37,000 people and regularly receive top awards for quality and safety. National CineMedia also faces the issue of an extremely levered balance sheet. These seven dividend stocks to sell all have a high risk of being yield traps.
